  Discussion with my parents about WTS

  after reading for a few months this is my first post here.

  i was raised a jehovah's witness by my parents who became jw's in the late '70s from field service.

  i'm still a jw but doing a lot of researching on the history of the wts.

  Welcome to the Discussion Forum . I'm so glad you are able to have open intelligent discussions with your parents. I was raised a witness and was bapitzed in 1978 . I have always had nagging doubts, but never really gave myself permission to question the WBTS.It is a very scary thing to question what you have been taught as truth , it means stepping out of a comfortable zone or at least familiar zone.I'm sure that your parents feel that way too, but you are opening the way for them . I highly recommend reading Ray Franz books .(I too felt I had to hide the fact I was reading them in my own home, because I didn't want to stumble my son or husband.) The books can be ordered online from Commentarypress.com . Hope to hear more from you and your journey of truth .

  What a blast!

  this morning was the morning after the night before at the get-together at the apostates' restaurant.. such an animated crowd with instant friendship.. yep, many came with at least one thing in common, a realisation about the trith about "the troof".. and how appropriate we should be just down the road from bethel.

  let's hope they heard - the inmates would have been sooooo jealous!.

  there was dark knight with friends, jwfacts and his friends - didn't they have a tale to tell!

  i am 23 years old, i was born and raised in the truth, then about 2 1/2 ears ago i got discfellowshiped.

  i didn't know anything else besides the truth.

  i got the official word today, everything is ok.. i felt much better after having read your comments, thanks for getting me through this experience.

  it is 13 degrees outside my door. Right about now I think I may warm myself with a bit of wine, because I'm to poor to fly anywhere warmer .

  A 1975 story

  while i was in high school in the mid 60's i was told that the end was so near that i would not get to graduate from high school so i should not be concerned about being drafted due to the war in vietnam.

  well i got drafted but did not pass my physical due to a medical problem.. i then considered go to school in the late 60's to enter the medical field.

  i was encouraged by the elders not to do this because the end is so near and why get schooling for a profession that you will not need in a few years?

  Welcome "too bad " . Thanks for sharing your story. I can relate to your story I was a child in the late 60's and remember sister's telling me I wouldn't have to worry about attending school, because the end was so close .Then, I would not even have to consider High school and so on, and so on .Now they are still forcing that twisted garbage down my own kids throats.

  C.O / D.O leaving the `truth`???

  this is probobly a long shot & i doubt it`s happened but does anyone know if any circuit overseers or district overseers have ever left.
